In the PE Department we aim:

To stimulate and maintain pupil interest and enjoyment in Physical Education

To promote health and fitness for current and future lifestyles

To enable pupils to understand:
- and use safe practice and to appreciate its importance in Physical Education
- the short and long term effects of exercise on the body
- the role of exercise in a fit and healthy lifestyle

To employ teaching methods that allows all pupils to experience success and enjoyment in their Physical Education work.

To promote pupil self- esteem through the development of physical confidence.

To provide students with the skills and opportunities to complete in a variety of sports.

To provide a wide range of opportunities for extracurricular sports and activities.

To work as an integrated unit with all sporting agencies to provide a united front in sports development in the local community.
KS3:
All pupils participate in one double lesson of PE each week. Year 8 participate in a triple lesson. The emphasis is on participation and on providing a variety of activities to give enjoyment, promote physical fitness, develop skills and team work. The overview of activities includes:
NETBALL, CAMOGIE, SOCCER, GAELIC FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, RUGBY, SWIMMING, GYMNASTICS, DANCE, ATHLETICS, CROSS-COUNTRY, CIRCUIT TRAINING
KS4
All pupils participate in one double lesson of PE each week. We also offer GCSE PE to those pupils who wish to specialise in PE and obtain a formal qualification.
An overview of activities includes:
AEROBICS, ZUMBA, FITNESS TRAINING, BADMINTON, VOLLETBALL, GAELIC, SOCCER, NETBALL, CAMOGIE, BASKETBALL CROSS-COUNTRY, ATHLETICS
We also offer Level 2 Sport for those students who want to follow a pathway geared towards sport and coaching.
KS5
At Key Stage 5 we offer a Level 3 Diploma in Increasing Participation in Sport and Active Leisure
Other Information
Pupils are given the opportunity to complete:

First aid awards through OCR Sport.
